Assemble

Teams work best when they know exactly how to get work done, together. Yet, with the fluid nature of today’s teams and the rapid pace of work, getting to that point can be hard. Assemble will explore how we structure our companies and teams, build networks, and allow people to do their best work.

Contribute

As individuals we work best when we know what we’re doing, and how to get it done. Contribute will focus on better defining the nature of what we do, understanding personal motivation, and empowering people to do their best work.

Integrate

Everyone works best when they have the resources and tools they need. A technology’s ecosystem of developers and partners is key to the success of its users. At Integrate, we’ll explore the ground developers cover in Slack today, and look toward what’s coming over the horizon.

Breakout Sessions

Diverse and inclusive workplaces are more than just numbers in an annual report. What real-life systems and structures can you put in place to help the humans in your organization grow, thrive, and ultimately deliver the best results? Hear from leaders in the space on how they approach inclusion and why diversity is a must-have competitive advantage.

Ever wonder how security is built into Slack? Come find out! Slack’s Chief Security Officer, Geoff Belknap, and Director of Risk and Compliance, Larkin Ryder, will tell you how Slack incorporates security into its product and its culture, and how it can better help you meet your own compliance commitments.

Molly Graham knows hypergrowth well. She’s currently VP of Operations at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative after being an early employee at Facebook and COO at Quip (acquired by Salesforce). She’ll share her experiences in scaling organizations, and why sometimes “giving up your Legos” is necessary in order to build something bigger.

What do all Chiefs of Staff have in common? They know the ins and outs of your day, bring important issues to your attention, and remember everything so you don’t have to. Isaiah Greene from Slack’s Search, Learning, and Intelligence team will show you how Slack is becoming your very own Chief of Staff, providing you with all the information you need to work get your work done.

In this live demo, Slack’s Karishma Kothari will share strategies and workflows to take your Slack skills to the next level. Discover efficient ways to do everything from coordinating with cross-functional teams, to catching up after a day of meetings, to searching for (and finding!) whatever you need quickly. We’ll show you how Slack can empower you – and your teams – to do your best work every day.

What do the next 12 months hold? What new features are peeking over the horizon? Head of Core Product, Paul Rosania, and Head of Enterprise Product, Ilan Frank, will talk you through what we’re building and how it’ll make your work day simpler, more pleasant, and more productive.

How do teams at customer-facing companies use Slack in their day-to-day work? In this panel and presentation, speakers will talk about Slack’s impact on Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support teams. Plus, they’ll share role-based insights on how to optimize your work, both internal and client-facing. Moderator: Wayne Kurtzman, Research Director at IDC

One founder at a time. One stage. One panel of IT leads from many industries. Just minutes to pitch their app. The prize? Getting their product rolled out to real teams at really successful companies. See if these talented founders have what it takes in this one-of-a-kind session.

How do you keep pace at a company that doubles its user base nearly every year? With very strategic investments in your technology and your people. Slack’s Director of Infrastructure Engineering, Julia Grace, and VP of Engineering, Michael Lopp, will share practical lessons on how we’ve scaled our infrastructure and our organization to sustain rapid growth.

Big companies have big security requirements – no big surprise there. Slack Head of Developer Relations, Amir Shevat, talks through how some of our most complex enterprise customers streamline their workflows with apps, while keeping their business data safe and secure.

From intuitive onboarding flows to one-click interactions that actively move work forward, we want Slack to feel almost magical in how it supports work seamlessly and reliably. Learn what new additions Slack is bringing to your interactive tool set, and hear from app founders whose companies will expand the boundaries of what’s possible in Slack.

Frontiers is a new conference by Slack where attendees can delve into the future of teamwork. It will feature a mix of keynotes, breakout sessions, and focused experiences, all with the aim to provide actionable insights around how groups of people can work together more effectively.

Whether you’re leading or contributing to a team, or building things that help people on teams work, you’ll get the opportunity to focus on how teamwork is changing and what those changes mean for the future. You’ll come away with concrete ideas you can apply in your organization, along with fresh information about new Slack features and partners.

The conference will feature multiple tracks on teams and teamwork, including a dedicated developer track with a more in–depth and hands–on look at Slack’s API and platform.

At Frontiers, attendees will:

  2. Hear from industry leaders (including our own CEO, Stewart Butterfield), successful Slack app developers and all-around interesting people with insights into how the way we work is broken (and how to go about fixing it).
  3. Meet the Slack team and other people who use Slack in your and other industries; swap ideas, get hands-on help (and answers to all of your questions), and leave with tools and tips you can use immediately.
  4. Glimpse the future. Be the first to hear about new products and features coming to Slack; and the ecosystem of partners hard at work building on the Slack platform.
